Akers Land & Ecology Ltd is looking to fill various roles to help deliver ecology, countryside and landscape focused projects in the construction industry. We work closely with house builders, developers and environmental and ecological consultants to deliver our work.

We are currently seeking skilled and experienced staff to help deliver a range of countryside management tasks, including: fencing, path building, pond building, landscape maintenance, tree and shrub planting, tree work and forestry.

National Operative – positions available based out of Rugby and Leeds

We’re looking for operatives to join our friendly team working on sites throughout England. Work will involve installing wildlife fencing, clearing vegetation and creating and managing wildlife habitats. Equipment, travel, accommodation and training are provided.

You will be hardworking and enjoy being outdoors. Ideally you will have experience in construction, countryside management, forestry, agricultural and/or landscaping. Staff development and good rates of pay will be provided.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • CSCS card
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety procedures

Desirable qualifications and experience include items from below:

  • NTPC brushcutter
  • NTPC Chainsaw (CS30/31/39/40)
  • PA1/PA6 Spraying
  • Chipper qualification
  • CPCS/NPORS Excavator
  • CPCS/NPORS Telehandler
  • CPCS/NPORS Skidsteer
  • Machinery maintenance
  • First Aid at Work
  • Planting and seeding
  • Fencing
  • Vegetation clearance

Full-time 40 hours per week
Operatives pay is dependent on qualifications and experience

Operative – Rugby, Warwickshire
We require hands on plant operator/ground worker/countryside operative to help deliver our ever-increasing work load. The varied role will be based at Rugby and will require work on a number of sites with occasional work away.

You must be fit, healthy and hard working with a positive attitude.
You should have strong team working skills and the ability to communicate clearly.
You should hold a CSCS card.
You will need to hold a full UK driving licence.

Other qualifications that would be highly valued but not essential include;

  • NPTC Chainsaw certificates (CS30/31/39/40)
  • CPCS/NPORS/NPTC excavator, tractor, telehandler or skid steer.
  • Trailer towing licence
  • First Aid at Work
  • PA1 & PA6 spraying certificate
  • Ride on mower certificates/experience
  • Machinery maintenance experience
  • Planting and seeding experience
  • Fencing experience
  • Vegetation clearance experience

Supervisor – Rugby, Warwickshire: 

We are looking for a responsible supervisor to help deliver our work. This is a key, hands on role that provides the link between the delivery team and management. While you must be able to fulfil the requirements of an operative you will also be responsible for leading a small team. You will need to communicate effectively with management and operatives and ensure tasks are delivered efficiently, safely, on time and to high standards.

We’re looking for someone with a positive, well tempered and professional attitude who can motivate and lead a team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and competent individual who will be able to organise and guide team members in the completion of their work.

Supervisory duties would include:

· Ensuring health and safety standards are implemented on a day to day basis
· Liaising with management regarding the delivery of work
· Delegating tasks and organising the team to deliver work efficiently
· Ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
· Monitoring team members’ work and providing any necessary constructive feedback and coaching.
· Identifying and resolving problems in a positive and professional manner.

Qualifications

Essential: CSCS card, full UK driving license, certification in the safe operation of relevant plant and tools.
Desirable: NVQ level 3/4 qualification relevant to landscape, countryside management, forestry or construction industries, trailer towing licence

Full time 40 hours per week
